What I do
I’m the general manager of Selwyn Heights, a retirement village in Hillsborough, Auckland. My role involves leading a staff of 70 who oversee the care and wellbeing of 330 residents living independently in the village or at the rest home or hospital. It’s my responsibility is to ensure all staff are happy in their work, realising their potential and have the care and wellbeing of the residents, foremost in their minds each day. It’s a busy village with a lot happening much of the activity initiated and driven by the residents.
I’ve worked in many different kinds of enterprises and industry sectors, in schools and government departments, for private companies and state owned enterprises, city councils and in small businesses like cafés, restaurants and shops. I’ve worked for not for profit organisations and for trusts and incorporated societies.
